Denmead Brass is excited to launch a new Beginner Band for children and adults, starting on Tuesday 1st September 2026 at Denmead Community Centre.
Tuesday | 7:00pm – 8:00pm Denmead Community Centre, School Lane, Denmead, PO7 6LU
Who is the Beginner Band for?
The band is designed to be a friendly and relaxed place to start or restart your musical journey.
You are welcome whether you:
- Have never played a musical instrument before
- Have recently started learning and can play a few notes
- Played an instrument in the past and would like to get back into it
- Want to learn a new skill in a supportive group environment
No previous musical experience is required. If you’re completely new to music, we’ll help you find the right pathway to get started and develop your skills.
Which instruments can I play?
There are opportunities to learn and play a range of brass and percussion instruments:
- Cornet / Trumpet
- Tenor Horn / French Horn
- Trombone
- Euphonium / Baritone
- Tuba
- Percussion

Support to help you learn
Rehearsals are led by a QTS-qualified music teacher and professional musician, providing a supportive and encouraging environment for players to develop their confidence and musical skills.
Individual lessons are not required to join the Beginner Band. However, if you’d like additional one-to-one tuition, lessons are available through our partners, The Southern Music Project.
Our aim is to make learning music accessible, enjoyable and achievable, whatever your starting point.
Instrument Loan
Don’t have an instrument? Free instrument loan is available, subject to availability and on a first come, first served basis.
This means you don’t need to own an instrument before you get started.
Membership
Membership of the Beginner Band is just £10 per month.
For this, you’ll be part of the Denmead Brass family, learning and playing alongside others in a friendly and supportive environment.
